Everyone wants to be Irish on St. Patrick’s Day. The region’s biggest St. Patrick’s Day Parade boasts more than 200 entries and 10,000 participants for a day of Irish pride and celebration.

Dozens of floats join clowns, pipe and traditional Irish bands, high school marching bands, step dancers, veterans groups, the El Jebel Shriners, horses and animals for kids and adults alike.

Pre-parade events include a Queen Colleen coronation ball in February, two publicity pub crawls and multiple functions throughout the year.

Parade organizers estimate more than 200,000 people attended the 2007 event and expect a similar crowd at the 2008 parade. The parade committee supports more than 10 local charitable causes.

The 2007 parade theme was Irish Roots/Cowboy Boots, an homage to the state’s multifaceted Western heritage. Arrive early for the best seats and join the city as it celebrates a day of Irish fun.
