As the sun set on the Wild West
and the gold rush of Colorado’s past
ran dry, Denver’s most fearless and
brutal females kissed lawlessness
goodbye and looked for a new outlet
for stirring up trouble.
In 2004, just the thing formed in
the Mile High City to keep those
vicious vixens occupied — the Rocky
Mountain Rollergirls. Bringing the
ferocity of a saloon fight and excitement
that beats the heck out of picking
away in a mine, the Rocky
Mountain Rollergirls brought roller
derby debauchery to Denver and to
the rest of the state, breakin’faces and
breakin’hearts along the way.
Calling Denver home to their brand
of flat-track roller derby that has
taken the nation by storm, the Rocky
Mountain Rollergirls is made up of an
all-female crew of skaters that completely
own and operate their league.
Proud members of the Women’s Flat
Track Derby Association, Rocky
Mountain Rollergirls are made up of
two home teams — the Red Ridin’
Hoods and the Sugar Kill Gang —
and an all-star travel team — the
5280 Fight Club.
The Hoods are a band of granny’s
little girls who are out for blood,
while the Sugars dance and destroy to
an old-school, hip-hop beat.
The best players of these two crews combine to form the Fight Club, girl boxers who are lookin' to take on teams from other citis in the ring or on the rink.
