The 110th annual Glenwood Springs
Strawberry Days Festival has come a
long way since its first gathering in June
1897, when the town was making the
transition from a Wild West mountain
town to a tight knit community surrounding
the famed hot springs pool.
The first strawberry picnic was a small
neighborhood gathering to give residents
a chance to meet new friends and
get reacquainted.
This year, event organizers expect as
many as 50,000 to visit.
Boasting a Western Retro-style celebration,
the festivities begin with the
carnival opening June 14 and continue
the next day with the crowning of Miss
Strawberry Days.
Saturday’s Strawberry Day’s Parade
procession begins with a vintage car
show, joined by the Glenwood Springs
High School marching band, the El Jebel
Shriners, Miss Strawberry Days and her
royal court and more.
