The family-friendly Cripple Creek District
Museum is full of the mining town’s history.
Victorian apartments, firearms and mining
items are on display. The largest historical institution
in Teller County and one of the oldest in
Colorado, the museum staff is proud to give its
visitors a true sense of history, said Jan
MacKell, museum director interim.
Visitors can spend as much time as they
want on the self-guided tour.
The museum’s gift shop offers a great book
selection and is the only place in town that
sells donkey snacks.
The museum is open year-round. In the
summer — June 1 through Sept. 30 — visit
the museum from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days
