The Fort, an award-winning restaurant in
southwest Denver, is one of the nation’s most
recognized establishments and sells more buffalo
steaks than any other independently owned
restaurant in the country.
Featuring fine beef, buffalo, game and
seafood, The Fort’s menu offers a tantalizing
selection of old and new foods from the Great
West.
Samuel P. Arnold had an appreciation for history,
a love of good food and a background that
ranged from selling toys to advertising.
He built The Fort on a scenic seven-acre plot of
land with a view of Pikes Peak 70 miles to the
south and Denver’s lights twinkling below. He
hired a 25-man crew from Taos, N.M., to build
the structure, using 80,000 45-pound adobe
bricks, made on the site.
The Fort opens at 6 p.m. Mondays through
Fridays and 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
