The Ellie Caulkins Opera House opened in September 2005. It is the newest venue in the Denver Center Performing Arts Complex and is fitted inside the beautifully renovated Newton Auditorium, built to house Denver’s first Democratic convention and cultural events.

The curving rows of 2,400 seats and fine acoustics are designed for opera, ballet and choral music. The Ellie, as it's called after the major donor, is home to Opera Colorado and the Colorado Ballet and will be host to other events such as this summer's "The Little Mermaid."

On the lower level is the elegant Chambers Grant Salon, which houses Kevin Taylor's at the Opera House, open during performances and for special events.

When money is available, a 300- seat studio theater, to be used by community groups and performers, and a founder's room with small stage will be added.
