Glen Eyrie is the original 18th century castle
home of the founder of Colorado Springs,
Gen. William Jackson Palmer, and is on an 800-
acre estate on the Front Range of the Colorado
Rockies. Today, it operates as a bed-and-breakfast
inn and conference center.
While strolling the property you may come
upon grazing deer, wild turkeys or even the
herd of bighorn sheep that reside on the
grounds. Guests stay in period-decorated
rooms or one of the rustic lodges. Morning or
afternoon teas are served in Queen Palmer's
Music Room daily, with reservations. As one of
the oldest buildings in Colorado Springs, this
historic property has a fascinating past. Visitors
should call ahead to reserve a tour.
